South Africa’s radical Economic Freedom Fighters of Julius Malema has lodged a complaint against the wealthy Gupta family accused of putting political pressure on president Jacob Zuma.
The complaint which concerns cases of corruption, theft, fraud and money-laundering, targets three Gupta brothers alongside Duduzane Zuma and minister of mines Mosebenzi Zwane.
The complaint comes at a time when South Africa’s finance minister Pravin Gordhan has published a report which suggests that more than 70 suspicious transactions have been carried out by companies belonging to the Gupta family for an estimated 433 million euros.
The Economic Freedom Fighters say they have provided evidence to the police especially the testimony of the finance minster.
Accused of imposing the appointment of ministers in Jacob Zuma’s government, the Gupta family has been at the centre of multiple controversies within the last few months.
